European Red Cross/Red Crescent Network on HIV, AIDS and TB (ERNA)

European Red Cross/Red Crescent Network on HIV, AIDS and TB (ERNA) was created in 1998 to co-ordinate the sharing of experience, the transfer of best practice and the promotion of collaborative Red Cross and Red Crescent efforts in the European region. Today ERNA gathers 40 National Societies from Western, Central and Eastern Europe, and from Central Asia.

Mission of the Network is to encourage participation and to help strengthen National Societies' operational capacity to combat HIV, AIDS, TB and other communicable diseases by gradually developing activities at the community level, particularly in the areas of prevention, care, treatment, control, harm reduction, psychosocial support, legal support, reduction of stigma and discrimination social integration and other community activities targeted at the most vulnerable people.

FIND TB Education and Training Resources

Launched in 2003, the TB Education and Training Resources Website provides a central, comprehensive searchable database of international, national, state, and local TB-related educational and training materials for TB healthcare workers, health professionals, patients, and the general public. The database contains descriptions of these materials and provides bibliographic information to assist users in selecting materials specific to their needs. The Website also offers users information on ordering TB materials, funding opportunities, TB organizations, TB-related events, TB listservs and digests, TB images, and other TB-related Web links.

International Council of Nurses (ICN) Global TB/MDR-TB Resource Centre

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) Global TB/MDR-TB Resource Centre is a professional e-resource tool which contains; guidelines for nurses, TB/MDR-TB standards, fact sheets, and tool kits that can be downloaded addressing TB and Stigma; and TB in the Workplace. The ICN's site also has an e-forum for TB/MDR-TB patients called "TB Patient Talk". This facility is also accessible via the menu on the TBSP website.

International Hospital Federation (IHF)

The International Hospital Federation (IHF) is the successor to the International Hospital Association, established in 1929, and is an international non-governmental organization, supported by members from over 100 countries. As the worldwide body for hospitals and health care organizations it develops and maintains a spirit of cooperation and communication among them, with the primary goal of improving patient safety and of promoting health in underserved communities.

The IHF has developed a TB/MDR-TB training manual for managers of hospitals, clinics and health service facilities. Its aim is to present summerized information on TB/MDR-TB control and to clarify the roles and skills needed to enable managers, medics, nurses or administrators to participate effectively in developing and maintaining a successful and sustainable TB and MDR-TB control programme in their area.

LHL - Norweigan Heart and Lung Foundation

LHL was established in 1943, when patients suffering from TB got organised.
Their aim was to secure the rights of TB patients - social security, health
and jobs. These basic elements continue to be important

The aim of LHL´s work is;

Social equality for the heart and lung affected people

LHL believes in a society for all, which implies that the sick and disabled
should enjoy the same rights as the rest of the population

LHL´s main focus in TB:

Being the patient´s voice through lobbying / advocacy to secure TB patients
in political priorities (national and international levels)
Make sure that TB is still seen as a public health issue
Make sure that the social and psychological problems attached to TB are
being focussed on TB patients´ access to effective treatment

Results

RESULTS is an international citizens advocacy organisation working to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty. Founded in 1980, RESULTS supports volunteer advocates across the UK and six other countries worldwide (USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Germany and Mexico). As part of a nationwide network citizens are supported in engaging with the democratic process and raising awareness of development issues with community leaders, elected representatives and the media.

RESULTS UK is currently working on a tuberculosis (TB) advocacy project. ‘ACTION’ – Advocacy to Control TB Internationally – brings together RESULTS partners in the UK, USA, Canada and Japan alongside national governments and civil society in three high TB burden countries: India, Indonesia and Kenya. The project aims to address and reverse the global TB epidemic through policy analysis, education and high-level advocacy. With a particular focus on Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe, the ACTION project also educates policy makers on the growing TB/HIV epidemic and the effectiveness of collaborative TB and HIV services in high burden countries.

The Stop TB Partnership

The Stop TB Partnership was established in 2000 to realize the goal of eliminating TB as a public health problem and, ultimately, to obtain a world free of TB. It comprises a network of international organizations, countries, donors from the public and private sectors, governmental and nongovernmental organizations and individuals that have expressed an interest in working together to achieve this goal.

As this forum is designed both for Dutch natives as well as for foreigners
living in The Netherlands, a special part of the forum is dedicated to
people who do not speak or understand Dutch but do speak English.
